The Cowboy’s Christmas Ball is an annual event in Austin Texas which will celebrate its 78th year in its current format this year. It is named after a poem by William Lawrence Chatterton which was inspired by the original Texas Christmas frontier dance in the 1880s. The poem was put to music in 1946 and is now performed annually at the ball. It was recorded in 1985 by Michael Martin Murphy (which you can hear below). So is this gonna be a cover, an original song based on the ball or something entirely different? We’ll found out on 1st December! First, here’s a picture tweet by The Killers from the video for Thanksgiving. Enjoy!
Mark Stoermer is to self release his solo album, Another Life on 1st November. It will be available as a free download for a limited time, to be followed by a limited physical release on both CD and Vinyl in December.
